The definition of remuneration...

The definition of remuneration and what is included for workers compensation purposes is a State issue (as it varies across Workers Compensation providers / State legislation). R&C understands that this issue has been dealt with in South Australia. It appears that there is little that can be done to change the definition in the short-term.

  1. Superannuation is still a federal issue under the award. So if this could be redefined outside of remuneration, then it could be exempted by virtue of definition when it comes to the local state Workers Compensation provision.
My point is quite lucid - superannuation is paid without any risk implication and therefore SHOULD NOT be subject to a further levy hike through workers compensation. Basically a "tax on a tax". It needs urgent attention and revision especially as super contributions rise to 12% over the next few years. Senator Abetz is on side with my arguement - it now needs R & C A to push with it as well, as a service to members.
